News from The Tree House CAC - August 2019 The 2019 Tree House Tour de Cookie: Was a Record Breaking Year! This year at our annual Tour de Cookie fundraiser, we had over 850 riders. It was a great day, with delicious treats. After a complete tally, we raised $75,000! Thank you to John Hopkins University Montgomery County and Rockville Bike Advisory Committee for all your hard work and support. Thank you to all our riders, volunteers, those who had a cookie stand, and all the bakers. We could not have put on such a successful event without you!
Will YOU Join us Next Year at Montgomery County's Sweetest Ride? The Tree House Tour de Cookie is an exciting, fun-filled, and delicious bike ride from one cookie stand to the next. The aim of the event is to raise awareness of child abuse prevention and promote the free services offered by The Tree House Child Advocacy Center, services that provide hope and healing to sexually abused, physically abused and neglected children. All proceeds of the Tree House Tour de Cookie benefit The Tree House CAC, enabling us to better serve our clients. It is a wonderful occasion during which individuals, families, and groups can enjoy a day of fun, festivities, philanthropy, and COOKIES! Staff Stoplight: An Ongoing Series:Rebecca Dessalines, Community Engagement and Fundraising CoordinatorMeet Rebecca, the newest member of our team. Rebecca has a B.S. in Political Science and Communication Studies from Towson University, and is currently in the process of completely her M.S. in Public Administration with a focus in Nonprofit Management. In the future, she hopes to become an Executive Director of an public or nonprofit organization or create her own nonprofit.
Rebecca will be coordinating the Tree House's social media engagement and donor relations. She will be the new contact person for the Tree House CAC's volunteer and donation opportunities. Rebecca looks forward to connecting with the individuals and companies that help make the Tree House CAC's mission possible. When asked why she decided to work for the Tree House CAC Ms. Dessalines said, "she wants to help make a difference and become the voice for communities that are often forgotten".
