We regret to announce The Tree House CAC has canceled The Tree House Tour de Cookie 2020.

Dear Friend of the Tree House,

In light of the ongoing public health crisis, it is with regret that the Tree House CAC announces the cancellation of The Tree House Tour de Cookie scheduled on May 2, 2020. We take this difficult step in order to protect the health and well-being of all of our sponsors, volunteers and participants.

To everyone who signed up to volunteer, to ride, or to be a sponsor, we thank you for thinking of the children we serve. The proceeds from this year’s event would have funded efforts to reduce the number of children awaiting our mental health services. While The Tree House will be making arrangements to provide refunds to those who have already registered for The Tree House Tour de Cookie 2020, we ask that you consider turning your registration fee into a donation to help us continue our critical work. Please contact Rebecca Dessalines at Rebecca.Dessalines@montgomerycountymd.gov to convert your registration into a tax-deductible donation that will be used to help heal vulnerable Montgomery County children.

For the past seven years, The Tree House CAC has sponsored the bicycle ride as one of the primary ways to raise awareness of and funds in support of the children we serve in Montgomery County. All of our services are offered free of charge to abused children and their families.

We are proud of The Tree House Tour de Cookie as it is a fun, family-friendly event which engages hundreds of people and organizations to support abused children in our community. Simply stated, the Tree House could not meet our mission without you. The Staff, Board of Directors, and I thank you for that support, and look forward to your continued support with upcoming events. In the meantime, please stay safe and protect yourself and your loved ones by following the guidance of our public health leaders, and please continue to check The Tree House Tour de Cookie website for additional information and news!

How to Care for and Protect your Family from COVID-19

What is COVID-19? COVID-19 is a disease caused by a respiratory virus. This is a new virus that hasn't caused illness in humans before. Worldwide, COVID-19 has resulted in thousands of human infections, casing illness and sometimes death. As the virus continues to spread, there have been cases reported in least 100 countries, including the United States. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a National pandemic in early March.

What can you do prevent the spread of COVID-19?

Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.
Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol if soap and water are not available.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using standard cleaning practices.
Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, your sleeve, or your elbow.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
If you are sick, stay home except to get medical care. Inform your supervisor of any illness.
