Why Children Don't Report Sexual Abuse

The Kindness in Our Community was Overwhelming this Past Month!

This month it was very evident that our community has taken our children into their hearts. Beautiful backpacks and school supplies continued to flow in from both individual donors and groups, including Transwestern and Owls of the Greater Capital Area. Then, the Cabin John Shake Shack donated the proceeds from their soft opening to The Tree House CAC, bringing in over $6100 to help abused children in our county. But they didn't stop there! They are also donating 5% of the proceeds from their Pie Oh My Concrete, a combination of frozen custard and fresh pie from Sweetly Anchored Patisserie, to The Tree House for at least the next year!

But that's not all. That was only the first week of September!

The month continued with a Flip-a-thon event at Silver Stars Gymnastics which brought us $2000, and later a self-defense class at Title Boxing Club, sponsored by Apex Home Loans and Masters Title & Escrow, which raised hundreds more for our services!

In the meantime, we put out a plea for storage space and Harvey Maisel of Maisel Development Co. and Noah Mehrkam of Arcland answered with a donation of storage space at CubeSmart on Gaither Road, just off Shady Grove Road, in Gaithersburg, MD. Our storage space problem was dire and they jumped right in to help. Sarah Faisal of Pruitt Title quickly rented a moving van for us and together, with the additional strength of Leslie Liberato and James Schneider, we completed the move. We can now breathe (and walk around) in our offices again!

September didn't stop there. Dan Baker, Lisa Tenley, and Rachael Thomas, from Forrester Construction, stopped by with a check for $1000 as part of their 30th anniversary celebration. This wonderful company has decided to celebrate their 30th anniversary by donating to 30 community organizations suggested by their employees. Dan suggested The Tree House, and for that we are incredibly grateful.

Take a look at the beautiful stuffed animals, Discovery Inc made for the children during their 2018 Impact Day. They made 50 of them, and they are so soft!

To top everything off, throughout the month our Facebook followers answered all of our calls for help. When a soon-to-be mom needed baby supplies, they were delivering them within hours. When Lego needed low-calorie snacks, they magically appeared.

Time after time, you show your support for our county's most vulnerable children. They know you care about them. They see it every day, and so do we. Thank you so much for all you do. You are the best!
