Ever since I first found out about the amazing work being done by The Tree House for abused and neglected children in our community, I've been impressed and grateful for their work. They are dedicated to reducing trauma and promoting healing for child victims of physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect. Effective early intervention is essential to ensure that an abused child or adolescent develops into a healthy and productive adult, capable of forming trusting and loving relationships, and we are so fortunate to have The Tree House providing those interventions for free to victims in our community.

For years I have wanted to participate in their fun and important annual fundraiser, The Tour de Cookie, and this year we are finally doing it! It is all very last minute and I expect some very sore muscles to follow, but my intrepid bike fan, Sole, is joining me this weekend as we modestly undertake the shortest of the routes (12 miles) on the Tour de Cookie! I hope you can find it in your heart and your wallet to make a small donation to the Tree House as part of our efforts. $25 would fund us at about $2 per mile, or $50 it you want to do $2 each. I share The Tree House's belief that the cycle of child abuse can be broken and child abuse and neglect is preventable. Please do what you can, and if you see us walking stiffly in the coming week, you will know we are doing so willingly for a wonderful cause.

Every year hundreds of bicyclists and cookie lovers join together to participate in The Tree House Tour de Cookie.  The ride is great fun and supports services critical to the community.  All proceeds from the event go to The Tree House CAC.  It is a joyful day of fun, festivities, and philanthropy.

The Tree House CAC of Montgomery County MD is dedicated to reducing trauma and promoting healing for child victims of physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect. For more than twelve years, the Tree House has served as the only child advocacy organization in Montgomery County, Maryland, and in the past year alone has supported over 700 children in the search for hope and healing. 

Our services include:

• comprehensive medical examinations
• mental health assessments
• ongoing mental health therapy for the child and non-offending family members
• victim advocacy
• forensic interviews
• nurse case management
• education & prevention

All of our services are free to victims and their non-offending family members.
