News from The Tree House CAC - May 2020
Dear Friends of the Tree House CAC; We hope you are all doing well during these challenging and unusual times, and that the information below will help those who need it. Please feel free to share these resources. Thank you!
As schools and extracurricular activities are closed for the rest of spring, and summer camps could possibly be closed for the summer; abusers may have more of an opportunity to assert control over their victims with lesser chance of interference. It is important for victims to know that they are not alone, and there are people here to help. There are available resources throughout Montgomery County to provide help and assistance. The Month of May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and it is important to know the resources in Montgomery county available to help children and adolescents. For a full list of resources, please visit Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services' Website.
Mental Health Services at the Tree House
The Tree House CAC is dedicated to reducing trauma and promoting healing for child and adolescent victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, and/or neglect through the services we provide. Our mental health services are integral in meeting this goal.
Unfortunately, with the cancellation of the 2020 Tree House Tour de Cookie due to COVID-19, our goal of $75,000 went unachieved. While some generous riders and sponsors donated their fees to us, we are still short $67,000 of our goal. These proceeds were earmarked to support our Mental Health Department, the plan was to hire an additional therapist in an effort to decrease the number of victims on our wait list needing mental health services. At the Tree House, we believe no abused child should have to wait for services. Support the Tree House CAC in growing our Mental Health Team by donating today!
