News from The Tree House CAC -  September 2020

As the start of a new school year begins, teachers and school administrators will still serve a vital role as mandatory reporters if child abuse and/or maltreatment is suspected.

Here are some helpful tips, from the Colorado Department of Human Services for teachers, community leaders, and any other caregiver(s) to use to help identify signs of abuse and the steps for reporting.

The Tree House CAC is Working to Keep our

Clients and Staff Safe as We Return Back to the Office

Here is How You Can Help!

The Tree House CAC is dedicated to reducing trauma and promoting healing for child and adolescent victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, and/or neglect through the services we provide. We serve the Montgomery County area and all our services are free of charge.

Due to COVID-19 our facility has been closed for the past few months. That means several children were not afforded the opportunity to tell their story in a child-friendly environment, and probably had to repeat their account of the abuse multiple times. As we approach the Fall 2020 school year, the number of cases we
receive will most likely increase.

In order to reopen our doors to our clients, we have to ensure the safety of all involved. That includes equipping staff and clients with proper personal protection equipment.

Please support  the Tree House CAC by donating to our COVID-19 Relief Fund. Your donation will purchase essential items, such as masks, face shields, exam gowns, gloves, hand sanitizer, and cleaning supplies, and ensure our staff and clients remain safe from COVID-19.

$25 Provides a bundle of face mask for clients and staff

$35 Provides a bundle of face shields or a pack of hand sanitizers

$50 Provides a bundle of medical gowns

$100 Provides cleaning supplies for the month or physician exam supplies

In this time of uncertainty due to COVID-19, supporting local non-profits has never been more important. As you make essential trips to the grocery store, you can purchase a $2.50 reusable Community Bag at the Giant Food located at 842 MUDDY BRANCH ROAD, GAITHERSBURG MD during the month of September to send the Tree House CAC a $1 donation.

A Special Thank You!

We would like to extend a huge thank you to Leslie Liberato and her community, friends, and all who donated to their annual Back-to-School book bag drive.

40 book bags and supplies were donated to the Tree House CAC, thank you for always going above and beyond to support the children and families we serve.

In addition, thank you to A Wider Circle and No Anxiety Prep for donating school and art supplies.
